Em 2022, a celebração do bicentenário da Independência do Brasil oportunizou um olhar para o nosso passado sobre como fomos nos construindo como nação e sociedade. 

No nosso Especial Bicentenário, por exemplo, ao lançar esse olhar retrospectivo para como a nossa educação pública foi sendo estruturada desde a Independência do Brasil, percebemos um movimento de idas e vindas rumo a uma educação pública gratuita, laica, de qualidade, equitativa para todos e todas. Ou seja, em diversos momentos dessa trajetória, a cada dois passos para frente, demos dois para trás. 

Entender a história é importantíssimo para planejar o futuro, garantindo que os erros do passado não se repitam e aprendendo com as políticas públicas que têm dado certo ou errado. 

Que esse mergulho histórico nos ajude a reconhecer e fortalecer as ações, os programas e as atitudes que nos levam para o caminho que garante educação de qualidade com equidade para todas e todos – seja construindo uma educação integral, inclusiva, antirracista, fortalecendo a participação social, articulando sistemas de governança entre os entes federativos ou apoiando gestoras(es), professoras(es) e estudantes em suas lutas diárias na escola. 

Como enfatiza Beatriz Cortese, diretora executiva do Cenpec:

O enfrentamento às desigualdades educacionais e a promoção da equidade devem ser prioridades nesse novo ano que está por vir.
É tempo de esperançar uma educação pública em que toda criança, adolescente e jovem tenha acesso à escola, permaneça nela e aprenda de verdade. Esse é o nosso propósito e a nossa razão de existir!”
